EnrollThe purpose of the Texas Property Management Course is to prepare Texas real estate license students to understand and apply the core principles of property management in a lawful, practical, and professionally responsible manner. The course is designed for students preparing for Texas real estate licensure and for license holders who need a strong foundation in the property management responsibilities commonly performed under broker supervision.
The course teaches students the role of the property manager, the relationship between the property manager, owner, tenant, broker, and law, and the systems needed to manage rental property responsibly. Students will learn how property managers use management agreements, landlord policies, operational guidelines, lease procedures, tenant communication, maintenance systems, reports, habitability awareness, fair housing compliance, and risk management practices in day-to-day real estate practice.
As a result of this course, students should be able to recognize common property management issues, understand when Texas and federal laws may apply, communicate appropriately with owners and tenants, document important actions, avoid unauthorized legal advice, follow broker-approved procedures, and know when to involve the sponsoring broker, attorney, insurance professional, contractor, environmental specialist, law enforcement, or other qualified professional.
